SuperTerminal for Android / User guide
User guide
SuperTerminal for Android is the phone side of Escapeburn SuperTerminal for Windows. Comet, your sessions and your plans stay on the computer; the phone shows them, sends what you type or say, and asks before anything runs.
What you need
- A Windows computer with Escapeburn SuperTerminal (beta) running.
- An Android phone with Android 11 or newer.
- For the first pairing: the phone and the computer on the same Wi-Fi.
- For notifications and reports: SuperTerminal signed in to your Escapeburn account on the computer.
Without a computer you can still explore the app: tap try the demo on the first screen.
Pair your phone
- On the computer open SETTINGS → Comet → Phone → pair phone. A QR code appears.
- On the phone tap scan code and point the camera at it (or paste the link shown under the code).
- Both screens show the same six digits. Compare them, then confirm on the computer.
Pairing creates this phone's keys in the Android Keystore; they never leave it. Approvals use a separate key that needs your fingerprint, face or screen lock when the phone has one.
A computer pairs with at most four phones. To remove one, use SETTINGS → Comet → Phone on the computer; on the phone use MORE → forget this computer.
Chat with Comet
The PIXEL tab is the same conversation as on the computer. Your messages are on the right, Comet's replies on the left, app notices in the middle. Commands such as /status, /inbox and /help are answered by the app itself, without a model.
Tap + to attach pictures or files (up to 25 MB each); they are sent to your computer first. Tap the microphone to dictate: your words appear in the box, and you send them when ready.
Approval cards
Before Comet prompts a session, opens or resumes one, schedules work or uses a connector, it shows a card. You can edit the text, then tap send. Where the phone has a screen lock, Android asks for your fingerprint, face or PIN, and the computer accepts only an approval signed with this phone's key. Declining needs no confirmation.
When the app is closed, cards arrive as notifications; approving opens the app for the confirmation.
Sessions, usage and the browser
The SESSIONS tab lists the sessions on the computer by project, with their state, and shows how much of each plan's limit is used and when it resets. Open a running session to read its screen, send a prompt (with files) or press the keys its menus need. ask Comet asks Comet about that session instead.
The BROWSER tab shows a project's browser from the computer: tap to click, drag to scroll, type text, go back or forward. Passwords are typed on the computer, never from the phone.
Voice calls
Tap ☏ to talk to Comet. The call runs on your computer with the voice engine chosen there; the phone is its microphone and speaker, also with the screen locked. You can mute, switch to the earpiece or end the call. If you choose SuperTerminal as the phone's digital assistant, a long press on the home button starts a call.
Notifications
When you are away and the app is closed, approval cards, replies and session news arrive as notifications. Allow notifications under MORE → notifications. On Xiaomi phones also allow Autostart and set the battery saver to No restrictions for the app.
Phone hands
Under MORE → phone hands you choose what Comet may do on this phone. Each capability is off (never), ask (you confirm every time) or always. Before a capability is used for the first time, the app shows what it reads and where it goes; Android then asks for its permission.
| Capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| phone status | Battery, network and sound mode (read only). |
| quiet mode | Silent, vibrate or Do Not Disturb, optionally until a time. |
| notifications | Reads recent notifications and replies from them. |
| calls | Calls a number or a contact you allow. |
| SMS | Sends an SMS you allow to a number or a contact. |
| Wi-Fi | The Wi-Fi you are on, nearby networks and a connection test. |
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth state, paired and nearby devices, and a connection you allow. |
| location | The phone's current location when Comet asks. |
| apps | Installs apps a session built on your computer, opens or removes them; Android asks you to confirm each install. |
| call screening | Silences or rejects calls from numbers you chose to filter. |
| alarms | Alarms Comet sets for you; they ring even in silent mode. |
After Comet has read messages, mail or web text, calls, SMS and replies always need your confirmation. coding sessions on the computer may use the phone only if you allow them; with ask, each session asks once per capability and then has two hours. turn all off switches everything off at once. Forgetting the computer resets all switches.
Away from home
After the first pairing, the phone reaches the computer from any network: directly on the same network, otherwise through an encrypted peer-to-peer tunnel. The computer must be on with SuperTerminal running.
Install and updates
The app is distributed as an APK from escapeburn.com. Install explains how to install it, check the file and update it; updates keep your pairing and settings.
Languages
The app speaks the same 15 languages as SuperTerminal. It follows the phone's language; on Android 13 and newer you can choose another under MORE → Language.
Troubleshooting
- Cannot reach the computer: check that SuperTerminal runs and the computer is online. For the first pairing both must be on the same Wi-Fi.
- "The computer does not recognise this phone": if the computer was restarting, tap try again. If you removed the phone there, pair again.
- Android says a setting is restricted: open App info → ⋮ → Allow restricted settings, then grant again.
- No notifications on Xiaomi: allow Autostart and set the battery saver to No restrictions.
